Patton (1970)
with
Karl Malden and George C. Scott; directed by Franklin J. Schaffner
Another
war film, this time about General George Patton, the brilliant but
rebellious military genius of the Allied World War II assault on the
Nazis. This film won 8 Academy Awards* including Best Picture and
Best Actor Oscars. Scott's opening monologue is unforgettable.
Screenplay by Francis Ford Coppola. A Clockwork Orange (1971)
with Malcolm McDowell,
written and directed by Stanley Kubrick
Another Kubrick masterpiece, it is a social commentary on punk violence and the
degeneration of society that rings eerily true today. It was quite a
shocker upon its release.
